A little less than five years ago, the first GMC model, the Sierra pickup truck, was given the AT4 name. Five years later, the idea has caught on, and today, every GMC product is available with an AT4 configuration. So what exactly is GMC AT4? Let's take a closer look.
The Terrain and Acadia take a lighter approach that is adapted to the type of vehicle that they are. Each model features impressive and exclusive wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires.
The vehicles also benefit from the Traction Select terrain management system, as well as black chrome grilles and trim. The Terrain also gets skid plates to protect the underbody in difficult conditions.
Both the Canyon and Sierra pickups offer a bit more features designed for off-road use. In addition to the Terrain Management System, there's a chassis with more capabilities. It comes in the form of a two-inch raised frame, a suspension with Rancho monotube shocks and skid plates with the Sierra. Both models feature red front hooks for securing loads, as well as nice black chrome accents. Also, a two-speed transfer case serves both models.
Of course, off-road tires are included. The Canyon gets exclusive Wrangler Duratrac tires. With the Sierra, 18- or 20-inch wheels (optional) are also unique to the model, and they are of course combined with Wrangler tires (Duratrac or Territory, depending on size).
Even the full-size Yukon SUV gets the AT4 treatment. What's most striking about the Yukon is its redesigned front fascia, which is designed to tackle rough trails. The design now allows for a 32-degree attack angle. Twenty-inch off-road tires are also included, as well as black chrome accents on the front grille. The model can even enjoy the adaptive suspension offered elsewhere in the lineup to create an overall very complete package (off-road capabilities and great comfort).
The bottom line is that with an AT4 version, GMC simply offers you more in every way. To find out what these models have to offer, a visit to the dealership is a must.
